Timeless Oriental Technique with Rahil

4/25 : 9:45-11:30 AM Saturday

Many of the most timeless dancers embrace simple technique executed flawlessly to express the music. This use of simple and essential technique portrays confidence, allows the audience to relax and enjoy the performance and enables the dancer to "be the music". Some artists use only a handful of movements but employ small variations to create their masterpieces. In this class we will focus on six essential movements to create your masterpiece! We'll start with making strong, isolated movements then add variations to help you express music and create depth in your dance. Finally, we'll layer shimmies and steps to get your brain and body working!

Egyptian Pop Choreography Workshop with Theresa Maze

4/25 : 1:00-2:45 PM Saturday

Do you sometimes find it perplexing to dance to music sung in a language and from a culture other than your own? For an audience who may or may not understand the meaning of the song?

In this workshop we will explore concepts of how to express passion, emotion, and the meaning of the song to your audience while developing or enriching your own personal style.

Lines and Extensions Workshop with Innah Raks

4/25: 3:00 - 4:00 PM Saturday

This workshop will focus on stretching and using classical dance technique to benefit your belly dance repertoire. We will learn some classical dance combinations which will help maximize your body extensions and lines. Get ready to take your dance to the next level!

Planned Improvisation with Innah Raks

4/26 : 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM Sunday

Certified dance and figure skating choreographer, Innah Raks, will guide us through the process of planned improvisation focusing on specific moves and useful

combinations. We will explore the concept of planned improvisation and how to maximize your audience's experience. This workshop will improve your improvisational technique by using a variety of dance vocabulary, move adjustment techniques, recognizing types of movement, following choreographic principles, and understanding choreographic components.

Beyond the Veil Workshop with Rahil

4/26 : 10:30- 12:00 PM Sunday

It's time to up your "veil-game"! In this workshop we will go beyond the basic veil technique. Using four yard rectangular veils, we'll do tucks and tricks to make your veil a priceless partner in your next dance. Then, using two semi-circular veils, we add excitement and mystery to our veil repertoire with double veils. Learn technique and combos to inspire your veil choreography. Silk veils work best but are not required. Bring your own if you have them. We will have some veils to loan for the workshop.
